From Sweden

Direct services from Stockholm Arlanda to Tirana operate on selected days, with schedules changing by airline and season. Check travel dates, baggage rules and the actual airport before booking. Direct services from Gothenburg, Malmö and Copenhagen may be seasonal; otherwise, a one-stop itinerary is often the simplest option.

From elsewhere in Europe

Tirana has direct links with a range of European cities. Common connecting hubs can include Vienna, Istanbul and Rome. Compare the whole journey, including connection time, baggage and any overnight stay, rather than looking at the headline fare alone.

Via Corfu or Italy

For southern Albania, flying to Corfu and taking a ferry to Sarandë can be an alternative. Allow time for the transfer between airport and port, border formalities and the ferry schedule. Ferries also connect Italian ports such as Bari and Brindisi with Albania; routes and crossing times vary.

Entry documents

Check passport and entry rules for your nationality and length of stay with official Albanian authorities and your own foreign ministry. Swedish travellers should consult Sweden Abroad for current advice. Keep travel documents accessible at ferry and land borders too.

Allow a buffer

Avoid tight connections between flights and ferries or between separate flight tickets. When returning from the south, an overnight stay in Tirana or near the departure port may be sensible if the schedule is vulnerable to delays.
