Day 1 – Tirana
Arrive and take a first walk through the centre. Choose a museum or historic site and have dinner in Blloku. Overnight in Tirana.
Day 2 – Berat
Travel to Berat, roughly 2–2.5 hours by car depending on traffic and route. Explore Mangalem and Gorica, walk up to the castle and enjoy views over the Osum River. Overnight in Berat.
Day 3 – Berat and south to Gjirokastër
Spend the morning in Berat visiting museums, churches and lanes. Then drive to Gjirokastër. It is a longer driving day, so plan breaks and avoid adding too many stops. Overnight in Gjirokastër.
Day 4 – Gjirokastër
Explore the castle, old bazaar and historic houses. Visit a museum if interested and try local dishes. Stay a second night in Gjirokastër.
Day 5 – Return to Tirana
Drive back to Tirana with a generous time buffer. The journey takes several hours and traffic can affect it. If your flight is early the next morning, consider a final night near the airport.
Practical setup
A rental car makes the route easier and more flexible, but check insurance and road conditions. Without a car, buses and transfers are possible but need more planning and may require an extra night.
