Tirana International Airport (TIA)
Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza, often called Rinas, is Albania’s main international airport, northwest of Tirana. The drive into the city depends on traffic, so allow extra time during busy periods.
Leaving the airport
The usual options are the airport bus, an official taxi or a rental car. Check current stops, departure times and fares on the airport or operator website. Use clearly marked taxis and confirm the fare or meter before setting off.
Buses and furgons
Buses and minibuses, often called furgons, connect Tirana with many towns and visitor destinations. Services may leave from different terminals and schedules can change. Check locally on the day and confirm the exact departure point.
Urban transport and taxis
Tirana has city buses and taxis. In smaller towns, central areas are often walkable, but a taxi or pre-booked transfer may be needed for beaches, accommodation and sights outside town.
Trains and ferries
Rail is not a comprehensive or especially practical way to reach the country’s main visitor destinations. Verify that a route is operating before planning around it. Ferries are important on the Corfu–Sarandë route and international routes to Italy.
